(63) For reasons of legal certainty, this Directive does not apply to products placed on the market or put into service before 9 December 2026. It is therefore necessary to provide for transitional arrangements in order to ensure continued liability under Product Liability Directive 1985 (repealed by new PLD) for damage caused by defective products which have been placed on the market or put into service before that date.
