(113) In view of the waste hierarchy as established by Directive 2008/98/EC which prioritises prevention, preparation for re-use and recycling and in line with Directive 2008/98/EC and Council Directive 1999/31/EC , waste batteries collected should not be disposed of or be subject to an energy recovery operation.
